Education

To receive scholarship:
Graduating senior from an SCC district high school; Education major (including ECE, Elementary, Middle School, Secondary, and Special Education); Submit a two-page paper entitled: “Why Teach?”; Paper should be double spaced, using MLA format; Submit two recommendation letters from high school teachers; Must have a minimum high school GPA of 2.75; Submit high school transcript.

To keep scholarship:
Minimum of five (5) volunteer service hours through SCC each fall and spring semester; Take at least one EDU class each fall and spring semester; Maintain a 3.00 GPA in Education courses; Must maintain full-time status (12 credit hours) each fall and spring semester (hours and grades checked after spring semester); Active member of Future Teachers Organization; Assist with high school or SCC volunteer recruitment activities for Education majors; Must follow degree plan for chosen licensure as outlined in the most recent SCC catalog or as indicated in documentation from transfer university"

Award
Bronze- Maximum: In-district tuition for 3 hours during summer, 7 hours during fall, and 7 hours during spring (fees and books are not covered).
